This charming Antique Victorian Bisque Porcelain Nodder Nodding Figure dates I believe to around 1880. It is in the form of a Middle Eastern Gentleman, who is sitting cross-legged with his hands outstretched. I believe the Nodder to be Continental, possibly German, and it has been handpainted in colours that are still vibrant. The Figure has a very nice face which has good detail. The Nodder measures approximately 3.5 inches high and weighs approximately 96 grams. The pin to the neck is possibly not original, but the neck nods very well on the body. Unusually the pin goes from front to back instead of side to side. The Nodder does have 2 hairlines cracks to the back of the body, but the colour of the hairlines suggests that they are historic faults and not recent. There are a few minor firing faults here and there but these are not immediately apparent. This will make a really lovely addition to any Nodder collection, and is the first of three similar lots that I am listing today.
