I really adore these cannisters, this one is for coffee, but t is a collection being sold on my site so please do look. T has never been a time in my life that I have not had one of these barrel-like cannisters in my home, small for spices or large for wooden spoons or merely hanging out on the shelves as marvelous warm, inviting blue and white porcelain accent pieces. Are they German, English or American which I doubt, but I'm not sure of that. They are terrific and this collection I bought at an auction last Friday night in Western Mass which is, of course, in the heart of New England. They were sold as a set but I have the feeling that she collected each one separately as most of us have done, one at a time at one flea market or antique shop, just and t till our collection becomes really great. Anyway, I am offering this group. Choose as you will but please take a look at the SALT. Just reaking with age and use by the hot stove and deep with heat marks and hanging out around a million home-cooked meals and check out the grease marks of w they grabbed the secure lid with their hands filled with oils from the meats or cheeses or olive oils and such that they were using for that meal. Oh my goodness, and then t was the salt that was sprinkled in each pot spicing up the sumptuous meals at their home. It's a wonder the kids didn't keep the collection. I would have!
