Up for auction is an Antique German Feather Tree, in SUPER condition for age. Including attached base, it measure about 48" in height. This is a very early example dating between 1910-1920's. All of the original candle holders are at tips of many branches (none missing). Many the many branches are tipped with red berries are also in very good condition for age. (Some flaking on a few berries, but most are in unusually good condition for age.) The original base was mounted on a square board for stability many decades ago. (I found this to be a most benificial addition and did not remove it.) This attached board was originally covered in what looks like wall paper, which is now mostly disintergrated. For ease of storing, the top 12" of branches was made to be a removable insert. Looks like an additional sprig was added near the top, along the way (easily removable if you wish). One image shows the tree decorated just for fun - the ornaments are not part of this auction. The feathers are tightly attached to most all branches. The few that I noticed (t may be more) becoming slightly loose, have been tightly secured with black thread just at the tip of the branch.
