Antique German Gerz Cider Tureen Punch Bowl W/ 7 Cups Up for Bidding a Gerz German Cider Punch Bowl /Tureen or Beer Set With Lid, includes 7 matching intricately designed Cider/Punch or Stein mugs. AKA all by the above names. The Large Bowl and Mugs are marked on the bottom. A triangle surrounding a mug,an around the triangle is Made In Germany. A mark that matches this one, was found in Kovels New Dictionary of Marks which is exactly the same mark ,without the wording Made In Germany around the triangle. The mark is dated by Kovels to be ca 1910 and is the mark of Simon Peter Gerz, Hohr-Grenzhausen, Palatinate, Germany (W. Germany) Ceramics. The exact date of this set is unknown, circa 1910-1940's. The intricately detailed pieces are exquisite. The Bowl background color is cream, having cameos of German castles, in a dark midnight blue background, highlighting the raised details of the castles. Their are raised grapes and leaves designs all hand painted. The handles are applied and very ornate. The Bowl lid, has a finial that's actually a castle on a hill. The Bowl measures 13 " D including handles x 13 " H with lid on. The mugs are 4 " tall. The Bowl and Mugs are in Excellent condition, with the exception of one mug.The handle had to be repaired. Their are no Chips, Cracks, or Hairlines or no discoloration to anymore of the pieces. read more
