Antique German Grodnertal Wooden Doll Carved Jointed

Antique carved peg jointed wooden doll. Quite primitive look to her. From the Grodnertal area of Germany. Dates to the late 1800's to early 1900's. This belonged to my grandmother. One of the more interesting things about this doll is her earrings. They appear to be brass shoe buttons hung on wires that are permanently attached to the dolls head.
The clothing is all sewn in one piece. The pantaloons are not separate from the dress, it is all one outfit. The dress material is delicate and fragile. It was a pink color but is now quite faded and worn on the front of the skirt in particular. There are no buttons, the outfit is sewn on so I made no effort to remove it for pictures. The doll is 12 inches tall. Torso and head are all one piece. She has a tiny waist. She is jointed at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Lower limbs of arms and legs are painted. Hair and face are hand painted. She sits down nicely and is sitting in the first two pictures. Sold as is - old played-with doll. Wear to the paint. Wear, small holes and fraying to the material. No broken parts. The pictures make the white areas of her dress look whiter than they really are. They have yellowed with age. The item pictured is what you will receive. If you have any questions please contact me via Ebay's 'contact seller' before bidding. I try to describe items noting what I would want to know - but I can not always know what you might consider a flaw . All items are described honestly. I strive for honesty and fairness and hope that you do too. With used and vintage items, aside from natural age and use issues , manufacturing flaws can exist on most all items! Crazing and manufacturing flaws such as pin holes, straw marks, bubbles and other manufacturing anomalies are considered normal for most glass, china and pottery. Please note that the USPS raised their shipping rates starting in January 2011. I am always happy to combine shipping to save on shipping charges. I generally ship first class or priority in the US for safety, speed, and ability to track. International buyers: I will ship first class international for most items if possible. (I use priority international for over 4lbs, and sm. flat rate international priority for small valuable items) There are some international countries I no longer ship to. Please check shipping exclusions list. Items are shipped within one day of my receiving (exception: no shipping on Sat or Sun)
