Antique Bavarian German Jewelry Cut Steel WWI Military Iron Man’s Rosary

MILITARY ROSARY WORLD WAR I ROSARY OF METAL BEADS

This rosary came from the same estate sale that Berlin Ironwork necklace and bracelet with the profiles of Otto von Bismarck.

It’s an iron rosary on a study chain with hollow beads. The hollow beads are constructed in two parts then soldered together. Each is individually formed by hammering or pressing a thin, flat sheet of iron into a mold.

Tough metal rosaries were issued to military personnel during the first World War, the technique being the same as used on lamp pulls. These become collectors items for many people. There are many versions of this rosary, especially in the use of centers and crucifixes. A wonderful find for anyone who wants a tough rosary for everyday use.

There markings on the back of the cross that we cannot read.
