Vintage German Lowbrow China Doll This beauty of a china lowbrow doll is a super size for display- and so much of her is all original- and she's a nice cabinet-sized 14" tall! She has a pretty lowbrow style head, with a lovely molded sholderplate in bright white glazed china with faded gilding. Marked "Dorothy" on the front of her shoulderplate, she is also marked "Pat appl" on the back, and probably also reads "Germany" (though her sewn-on costume obscures it). Circa 1880s-early 90s, she's a good example of the Pet Names girls, and has a slightly turned head as well. Her face is quite pretty, with a lovely symmetrical lowbrow black hairstyle, with sculpted curls and a deep centered part down the middle; her little ears are just showing, and the hair is a nice uniform shade all around. Her face has brightly painted pink cheeks, a beestung coral mouth with thin upturned smile line, bright sky blue eyes with black lid lines and small black pupils, and very thin and long one-stroke symmetrical black brows. Some slight wear to paint on front and back of hair, as is normal for these chinas, but no chips or cracks to head or shoulderplate.
