Up for auction is a huge 14" (34cm) 1.5L antique German stein. This stein was made by the German stein manufacturer Eckhardt & Engler. The mark on the bottom of the stein is the reversible 'E' and an 'H' and 'made in Germany '. This mark was used between 1918 and 1971, but this stein was most likely made between 1918 and the 1930's. T is a receipt inside the stein from 1949 w it was purchased in a Columbus , Ohio antique store for $20 (I'll include the receipt inside the stein). The stein has a very nice scene of a group of people sitting around a table inside a house. They have steins, pitchers, pouring steins and plaques in the scene, as well as a nice mantle. The lower scene on the right has inscribed 'Eine scharfe Dartle'. Near the top band of the stein it says 'Es lebe die freuntdschaft. Es lebe der Wein', which translated into English means ' Long live freundschaft. Long live the wine!'. The lower band of the stein says 'Was susser nach winket, das schliessen wir ein', which translated to English means 'What susser after winket that we close'. That's probably not exact, but close. On either side of the handle is a ram skull, goblets, jugs, vines and sticks. Best of all, t are no chips, cracks or repairs to this stein! I took plenty of photos for you to look at - if you have any questions, email me to let me know and I'll read more
