Lovely antique gilt bronze or brass trinket box. The cover over the portrait is glass. I do not think the portrait is hand painted. Beautiful foliate design around the outside of the box. The interior is tan velvet and has some marks on it as seen in my photo. I cannot find any makers marks. It measures 6 inches long, 3 1/8 inch wide and 1 3/4 inches tall. The patina is a little darker on the lid than around the lower half. It may brighten up with a polishing. box lid snaps shut easily. Displays beautifully. Purchased from a very old estate.
