Antique Girandole/Candelabra Set Bronze w/Crystals 3 pc
This is a fabulous three piece Antique Brass Triple Candelabra with two single side candelabra on White Marble Bases from circa 1860. This is an exquisite set mixing elements of classical with baroque, eastern and western. The triple candelabra stands approx 16" tall by 17" wide with a base that is 6" by 4". The Bottom of the girandole is a girl and a boy, one standing and one sitting. T is a deer standing beside them. From this base the arms rise as a three limbed tree with a pierced, ornamental oval-shape for holding the crystals. The crystals are in two pieces, the upper being a square piece and the lower an etched prism. This holds the candle holder. The accompanying pieces are a single shoot with the same figure on the base and the same candle holder and crystal holder on top. They stand 14 1/2" tall by about 5 inches across at the figure. These marble bases are 3" x 5". These pieces are in vintage condition. T is a slight cant on the larger that could possibly be straightened . T is a chip on the top back of this base.T are a total of 23 crystals (spaces for more). A few have chips but they still look beautiful and have that reflective sparkle that you only get from crystal prisms. This piece dates from about 1850 and the metal is pliable in places, so t is some cant to the pieces. This piece is a wonderful example of a Girandole, a luxurious appliance for lighting and house decoration in 18th Century France. A variety of metals were used with gilded bronze being a popular medium. I have no idea of the exact age of this piece, just that it's very old. It's part of an estate sale that we're conducting for a friend. Her great aunt bequeathed this to her in her will. The piece is from the mid 1800's.
