Nice clean cVictorian sovereign balance scales for a full and half a sovereign. The crown mark is stamped on the weight end of the scales and on the base underneath. These scales are on a slightly raised plinth with some nice touches of decoration making them look good quality maybe slightly older scales compared to some you see on here. I have only been able to find a image of this type described as 'Rare Harrison scales', but below is some information kindly passed on to me that they are J. Cottrell & Co, Birmingham c1823-25. If you have any questions please ask. You are welcome to collect in person to save postage. Good luck if you decide to bid. Please note some information passed onto me about the scales. See below. This high-riser sovereign rocker balance was made by Thomas Voce and Joseph Cottrell, brass founders of 25 Great Charles St., Birmingham in business as the firm of "J. Cottrell and Co." from 1823 to 1825.From my book on "Coin Scales - English Rockers and Their Markings" I should have also mentioned that of all rockers with identified manufacturers and known maker marks still around today about 24.0% were made by Samuel Harrison. Your rocker is much rarer with only 0.3% made by J. Cottrell & Co. MIke F.
