This is an elegant and grand poetry collection consisting of two books one The First Series and the other The Second Series. They are both entitled The Golden Treasury of the best songs and lyrics in the English language by Francis T. Palgrave. The first series is revised and enlarged. There is no date Ã,Â- circa 1890Ã,Â's. Dodge Publishing Company Makers of Unique Books at 23 East Twentieth Street, New York. The binding on these two books is breathe-taking. They are bound in full brown morocco leather with gold gilt lettering and gilt florals, scrolls surrounded by an ornate panel on the front cover along with gold gilt lettering on the spine. All edges are gilt and each book has a frontispiece. The poetry within these pages is inspiring containing some of the best poets of the time. To list a few: Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Sir Francis Hasting Doyle, Charles Kingsley, Rossetti, Tennyson, Whitehead, Byron, Milton, Walter Scott, and Shakespeare Ã,Â- again to name just a few. These books are elegant and sophisticated in every way being 16mo in size. They are in good condition with the bindings tight and clean. The covers are sunned quite a bit especially on the spine and on the upper half of the second seriesÃ,Â' cover. They would make the perfect gift for not only someone whom loves poetry but perhaps even that special poet in your life.
