Looking for that perfect, unique item that says you REALLY looked for just the right gift? Yeah, tech is in, and next year --this year's tech will be passe. This ca 1920s - 1930s CATHEDRAL BOOKENDS is great for your favorite bibliophile, souvenir buildings collector -- or, it's just a great pair of distinctive bookends for your library! I'm pretty sure these represent the Cathedral of Rheims. This is a vintage set -- they are not reproductions. I've had this pair of bookends for a good 25 years, and I'm relatively certain I purchased them in an antique shop in the Old Market area of Omaha, NE. I have to downsize my book collection (see my other auctions -- several great books listed right now!) for a move -- so, some of the bookends collection has to go too. You will, on occasion, see these on eBay, but have you seen a pair that's in this great condition? The paint is usually long gone, or just traces are left. Often the brass has aged beyond repair, or they are just made of a base metal. These are brass -- and they passed the magnet test. They're also weighted -- PLENTY heavy to secure your best tomes. The bookends measure 5 1/2" high, 4" wide, and 2 1/2" deep. You can see by the photos that one bookend has about a 1/4" 'stain' right on the first step. Other than this -- this set is about as 'clean' as you could ever find on 80 year-old items. T is NO RESERVE , I hope you folks will bid aggressively and often to bring them to a fair market value. Thanks for looking -- have a great week!
