From the same house as the planes I'm selling in other auctions, 's a beech and boxwood plow plane marked UNION FACTORY / WARRANTED / H. CHAPIN No. 239 (the 9 appears to be overstamped on an illegible number). It is also stamped G.L.C., likely the initials of a previous owner. According to "American Wooden Planes" by Emil & Martyl Pollak, Hermon Chapin made planes under this imprint in Pine Meadow, Ct beginning in 1826 until about 1860. The original finish has a mellow, warm patina. T is a strip of boxwood neatly dovetailed into the fence. The arms, body and fence are each 10 1/2 inches long and it looks to be in beautiful condition. Shipping to the US only will be $15.00. I'm happy to combine shipping wver possible. Please ask any questions before bidding and good luck!
