If it's not top notch' we won't sell it! Introducing A very nice True Half size Flat top Steamer Trunk Easy to move around and useful! It has been Professionally refinished by us. The old leather covering was removed and it was refinished in our shop. These little beauties are getting rare! Reason being nobody lets them go! This trunk may just be Rarer than .59 cent gasoline! Probably made in New England she's a nice strong steamer half trunk from around the late 1870's Patent dates on hardware are 1869. Also may refered to as carry on luggage or a hat trunk. This trunk has real nice pine and great oak slats' Really shows the beauty of the wood in clear satin finishes! Different size slats on the lid and the hardware are very rare indeed! No polyurithane or stain on our trunks. It would defeat the preservation and purpose. Polyurithane is plastic and can crack on trunks. We don't use it. We use satin and clear varnish finishes. The top is pretty flat Both making it a functional and elegant storage piece. Very beautiful wood indeed. It has the original lid stay to hold the top open. I kept the 'original' aged color in the wood. The cast iron metals were cleaned and left in original condition. The nail and tack heads are original in finish and I liked the way it looked so I left well enough alone. If you want the metals finished with black enamel, no problem. for a variation in styles and such' T are 2 original strap style hinges on the back and she opens and closes like new. I put two high grade thick leather handles on also. The inside was Stripped and sealed with 2 coats of satin sealer. We try our very best to represent the beauty of these trunks in our pics' People are usually stunned when they see how nice these are in person. I guess that is what got me hooked trunks long ago :-) They are Unique! Trunks are unique and the chances of another exactly like the one you wanted may not be seen for a long time.
