This is a very interesting old piece...I have tried to read what the markings are, but even with a magnifying glass I can't!! Old age sure does stink sometimes....:) This piece has got to be from the turn of the century to the 1920's...I doubt it was made after that. You can tell just by looking at it that it is early. The hammered brass makes for a very ethnic look...the brass is nicely patinaed and I have not cleaned it...I prefer things in their natural stages...T is one area that may be a little dented in, but not really noticable..The looping handles almost appear to be copper under the brass...perhaps this could be copper and it has a brass coating...or just NEEDS that polishing that I have never done... This does have a real Arts & Crafts studio feel to it...I guess you just have to decide for yourself! It measures 12" high; 13" across handle to handle; 6" across the base and 4" across the top opening. The only thing I can make out on the markings on the bottom are the numbers 255...other than that t is something stamped inside of an oval..T are some upper case A's inside the oval in case that helps in identifying it.
