From a Local Collection Very Nice Primitive Colonial Lighting This is a piece for any collector of colonial lighting. This hand forged piece came from a local estate with many primitive pieces. A sleek candle stand that has a unique betty lamp shape drip pan to hold the candle. The shaft is attached to a quad footed base ending in flattened penny feet. The top with the arm does rotate 360 degrees and is adjustable vertically on the shaft. This feature allowed the lady of the house to sew, read, mix or mend, or the man of the house to read in his favorite chair, or write at his desk to do his accounts with the light at "just the right height." I researched this piece but have not found one exactly like it. As with all hand-made items, no two are ever quite alike, even if made by the same craftsman. I am not sure if this piece is original or a reproduction. You collectors out there surely know more than I. I do know that whether a reproduction or original, this is a wonderful and functional candle stand that will add character to any collection. This piece is in excellent overall condition. The feet are not completely level. Please review all pictures. Ask questions before bidding, please. Measurements: Height from floor to top 42.5". Width of the bass 13 " and the candle cup is 5.5" x 3.5". Thank you for looking!
