AMAZING ANTIQUE QUILT FROM SHANGHAI CHINA Made in the late 1920's/Early 1930's by Women of The American Woman's Club of Shanghai China (Previous owner was Bertha Hudson who lived in Shanghai from 1919 to 1937. She was a missionary to China originally, met a WWI veteran, married, and moved to Shanghai permanently to continue part time missionary work while her husband opened a Dentistry/Orthodontist practice for the wealthy within Shanghai during that time period). This wonderful old quilt is in VERY GOOD, near excellent condition! Made of raw silk and cotton. It features a floral motif done in an application/patchwork method that is hand sewn on. T are several various color combinations with the floral patterns. All have dark green and light green leaves. The edges of this quilt have been cut and trimmed in a very nice scalloped edge. Quilt measures 98" long and 78" wide which I believe will be appropriate for a full size bed (I'm not familiar with sizing). The quilt not only has the applique floral patterns, but also has a hand stitched Chinese symbol stitched into every other block. This quilt is a soft light beige in color (I apologize because my photos make it look a little pink), with a medium green trim on the scalloped edges. Floral motifs include such great colors as purples, violets, medium blue, light blue, peach, coral, yellow, mustard yellow, etc. I found only ONE very small stain that is of medium color and may come out quite easily by someone who knows what they're doing, but it is small enough and light enough that I wouldn't even mess with it. It has to be hunted for...it is NOT easily seen. Quilt is very clean, no moth holes, and has been well taken care of. I could find no tears, holes, weakness, etc. on the quilt. This truly is a unique piece of antique textiles, unique because of it's Asian flaire with the Chinese symbol factored in to the making! Money order, personal check or PayPal accepted. Buyer to pay shipping/handling and insurance via Priority Mail. If you'd like a shipping quote, please email me with your zip code. International bidders will be considered, but I ask that you EMAIL ME FIRST! Personal check will require a 5-7 day clearance period once it is received and deposited before quilt will be shipped. THANK YOU.
