What can I tell you about these two portraits ? Nuthin! Sorry, but that sums up my knowledge re these two items. The back plate has embossed in the cardboard “ Richards “ and below that embossed “ Made in Germany, so we are least pre WW2. The gesso frame and printing makes me think pre 1900. But how much earlier would be better for some subject matter expert to opine. I would guess 1880s. I can’t quite determine what the surface is that has been painted, but I am sure they are painted and not printed. The painted surface 2.5 wide by 3 tall. The entire piece is just over 4 x 5. They are charming and I have been looking on ebay for the last 6 months and have not seen another one cross the auction block. Thanks for looking, feel free to ask questions.
