WONDERFUL Antique One Piece, Hand Carved, Wooden Shovel with a GREAT Hand Painted Winter Scene. This Shovel stands 36 1/2" high & the widest shovel/scoop width is 11 1/2". Great hand carving marks. The Handle is painted BLACK with a ARTIST SIGNED INITIAL ~ L O (??) in YELLOW paint. The Shovel area has a hand painted Winter Scene of white snow with a river flowing through the center. T is a brown bridge near a two-story brown house w/snow on the roof. A barn is on the left & a church with 2 other small buildings are on the right. T is a man skating on the river, a lady sitting on the river bank & 2 people each with a sled in the background on the right side. The sky is a dark cloudy grey blue. The sky area looks to be repainted...you can see faint traces of something else ?? The shovel dates to the late 1800's & the painting was done in the 1900's. Condition is good, t is an old tight crack/repair on the handle & a small chip (1/4" x 1") on the bottom right side of the shovel. A really GREAT piece of AMERICAN FOLK ART for your collection !!!
