This is a truly authentic, antique Handel desk lamp circa 1910. It has a reverse painted floral design, which is a bit rarer than the usual scenic paintings. The shade is hand labeled inside "Handel 6760" and the base is stamped "Handel". The base is cast bronze, not the usual white "pot metal". T is a "Handel Lamp" cloth label attached to the felt covering on the lamp bottom. The base is a quadreform shape and is nicely patinated. The lamp is 14" high and the shade is 8.5" by 6.25". The shade is in very good condition although t are three small chips (~0.5 mm) along the rim on the inside near the "6760" inscription. This lamp has been in the family since well before WWII, but we do not know the age with accuracy before that. The analysis by an expert is that it is circa 1910. The lamp belonged to my mother's aunt and I am 64. I remember seeing the lamp in my grandmother's house in the 1950's. Philip Handel produced lamps at the turn of the 19th/20th century and was a contempory of Tiffany. The Handel Company ceased operations in 1936, so it has to predate that. This is NOT a reproduction. This lamp will be professional packed and fully insured.
