We offer for sale this Antique Hearth "Toddy Iron" Rest, Wrought Iron, Blacksmith Created from New Hampshire Origin. Over the years my antique friends have advised me this is a Snake's Head, footed Toddy Iron Rest. It could have been used to rest other hearth tools such as roasting forks, pokers or skewers. It is 12 ½ inches high, 9 ½ inches wide at top. The feet flair out to 13 inches apart and weighs almost 6 pounds. Since it takes time to heat the iron, this rest works great to support the tool; while being heated red hot in the blazer's hearth. . It was found in the old Hall's Stage Stop in Haverhill , New Hampshire . I am sure it was created by one of our many local blacksmiths in town. We believe this piece to be late 18 th Century. Buyer pays USPS Priority Mail; insurance is optional and is extra. Low starting bid and no hidden reserve.
