~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ Up for auction today is this stunning antique/ vintage homespun linen/hemp sack ~*~ What a beautiful pale toned sack indeed! It is lovely and has such a beautiful BIG monogram! This sack is finely woven and is just beautiful. This sack would probably have been used for flour instead of grain as the weave is quite a bit finer than normal. The texture is wonderful and the linen is very bouncy! This lovely sack measures 116cm by 48cm ( 3.8feet long by 18.9 inches wide) Each side is hand stitched with a wonderful heavy hemp stitching~ It is one long piece of linen sewn together at each side~ ~*~This sack has 3 hand darns on the back w t were small holes and t is one small spot w t is a small hole on the front~ it is lovely to add little applisques w t are flaws~ perhaps a blue ticking patch! ~*~ It is freshly laundered and ready to use! ~*~~ This sack weighs 750g so Postage to UK is £3.20 ( 6.50 US dollars) ~ Japan and USA airmail cost is $14.50 US dollars. I always happily combine shipping to save my customers money on shipping! The linen is home grown, home retted and hand woven. These sacks are 100% machine washable! I wash them on a regular 40c or even 60c cycle and then hang to dry ( however you can tumble dry too!). If t is dirt present simply add Oxyclean or similar~ hemp was built to last, and last .....and last...the more you use it the more wonderful it becomes~ most times t isn't even a need for ironing after wash~ perfect for easy lifestlyes~*~ ~*~I have found so many uses for these sacks. I have made floor cushions ( reading cushions for my kids), bolster cushions, bed cushions for propping on the headboards, laundry sacks, bath mats, also they are just wonderful to open out as table runners, .... I have seen them used for upholstering chairs, sofas and even someone has created a patchwork effect by opening out 7 sacks each with different stripes and sewing together to upholster a sofa..STUNNING...as they obviously have 2 pieces of linen to be used ( front and back) and most are one piece on linen simply sewn at the seams ( some have seam at the bottom, please enquire)....the list is endless!
