This is a rare Hermes Featherweight portable typewriter, 1935. It was made in Switzerland and is one of the most popular portable typewriters ever made. Many of the Hermes typewriters you see are the later Hermes Baby model, but this is the original Hermes Featherweight. It is in nice, clean condition. The case top has original leather strap which is in nice condition also. All of the keys strike fine and clear. The platen is nice and clean as well. After I typed each key on paper, the carriage return string came loose. It looks like the original catgut. I don't feel much tension on the carriage wheel, but I am not a typewriter expert. I will leave that up to you. Low starting price! Fabulous COLLECTIBLE typewriter!!!
