The drawers are hand dovetailed and t is floral molding on the front of the legs. The rich ruddy brown finish is in excellent condition and is original, enhancing the natural warm walnut grain. Shelves in the upper section are grooved to display plates, but this would make a great bookcase as well. It's a beautiful cabinet, rich in it's classic design. The original finish is in nice condition. Original manufacturers sticker is still on the back of the cabinet. Measurements are 3' wide, 66" high and 13" deep. Hespeler was a very famous Canadian furniture company which started in 1901-producing extremely high quality furniture until it closed . They used only the finest of woods available back then to make their furniture, Honduras Mahogany , Walnut and Oak were mainly used . Many of the woods used back then are not available today . The cabinet making and construction of their furniture was nothing short of Rolls Royce quality throughout and can be seen in each piece they produced . Using extra thick woods on their table tops , buffets and drawer fronts distinguished them from other manufactures . All drawers were reinforced and beautifully dovetailed both back and front. Even with our modern technology today we can not duplicate the quality of the old Hespeler dining suites and if we could it would cost ten's of thousands of dollars to come close to the quality they were able to achieve back then.
