This is an auction for a Pair of Antique HICKS & MEIGH Chinoiserie Oriental English Ironstone Plates! These plates are a fabulous estate sale find, over 200 years old, circa 1806-1822. This was before the company became Hicks, Meigh & Johnson and eventually Ridgways, Mason, Coalport. These are two very interesting pieces of Chinoiserie ironstone. Both are identical patterns, measuring approximately 9 3/4" round. The colors are a vibrant cobalt blue with a burnt-orange or India red, t is also green and gold......polychromed Oriental patterns, we think, according to our book on English China.
When you flip the plates over, they reveal the Hicks & Meigh Stone China mark, and this is in cobalt blue. T is also a number 7 beneath the STONE CHINA mark. These plates are in excellent condition, with light signs of normal usage and faint utentsil marks...very faint. The Imari colors are beautifully executed and we can't believe that these plates are two hundred years old!!!!!They have firing pontils or rough spots on the back, but t are no chips, cracks, or breakages. T are no flakes or rim chips. Maybe they would make a nice addition to your Chinoiserie collection? Shipping and Handling will be $15.00 for USPS priority mail in a box, unless otherwise directed. Insurance can be added for $1.35 for up to 50.00 of coverage or $2.30 for up to $100.00 of coverage. Delivery confirmation is always a good idea for 50 cents extra.
