This is a finely cast bronze of Nandi, the bull vehicle of Shiva. The sculpture is 4 ½ inches high and 4 ¼ inches long. The bronze was cast with the lost wax method. It is very detailed. The sculpture is likely Indian and dates to the 19th century or before. Something unusual about the sculpture is that in the hind quarters there is a lighter color bronze. It may be a repair, but we believe it is original as some of the impressed decoration covers the lighter and darker parts.
