Very old, late 1700's or early -mid 1800's (?), Hopf Violin, with it's coffin style case, including the case's small skeleton key. I do not know anything about violins except this one is old and very much an original. Maybe also rare because of it being double maker's marked and it has a crown on the neck above the burnt in (?) name HOPF -- the inside is stamped (not a paper label), HOPF with a crown above it and a crown on each side of the word HOPF - inder the word HOPF, is - CF. I will do my best to describe this beautiful violin. I took plenty of pictures for you to view to help with my describing. The body measures 14 inches long and at the widest is 8 inches. One of the strings is loose as well as one of the top peg that tightens that string. It seems to be in wonderful condition other than that, atleast from what I know or can see. I can not see any cracks or seperating of the wood body or neck. The carved, scrolled top is very nice - it needs a proper cleaning from dust. Please view my pictures and email me any questions - I will do my best to try to correctly answer - I will reply. If more pics are wanted, I can do that too. Thanks for looking. Happy Holidays.
