As we travel around Italy, we are always searching for exceptional Vintage and Antique Italian Vestments to present to you on Ebay. Italian Vestments are among the most prized in the world due to their stunning workmanship, fabrics and design. This week we have several exquisite pieces for you - please check our other Auctions. IN THIS AUCTION we are offering a magnificent Antique Hand Crocheted Lace and Linen Italian Alb church vestment. The expression, "they don't make them like this anymore", immediately comes to mind when you see and feel this beautiful Alb. And it's true. First, t is the weight and crispness of the lovely white linen. The extra heavy weight linen wears extremely well and irons out wonderfully - even without starch! Then, of course, you will notice the fine open crochet work that comprises the lace borders on the sleeves. This is a generous 7 inches wide (18 cm). The exquisite lace pattern of "I.H.S." is repeated from the sleeve cuff to the "skirt" at the bottom of the Alb. the Lace skirt measures a full 10 inches wide (25.5 cm). T are other fine details that you simply don't find today - such as the great gathering around the neck that is held in place by a band edged in tiny open lace work.
