Up for bids at auction: Up for bids is this large antique, late 1800’s- early 1900’s cast iron John Deere Horse-drawn wagon wheel gear. It has been lightly cleaned and rubbed with an all-natural beeswax to protect its great looking old iron patina and is ready for display in any rustic or old industrial setting. It measures 24 inches in diameter and is 1 inch wide on the outside edge with 3/4 inch high teeth. It is embossed with the old John Deere "JD" logo and an old parts number R31-B as well as still carrying faint traces of original green paint. The gear is free of damage and originally would have been fastened to a wooden wheel on an old horse drawn wagon to utilize the forward motion of the wagon to power a piece of farm equipment- most often a grain seeder of some sort. Not much else to add, this gear is very large and impressive and will certainly be noticed anywhere it is displayed. Please refer to the pictures and feel free to email with any questions. The items I sell are Barn and Farmhouse finds from old farm estates throughout Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. Many of them have been cleaned to preserve their original old patinas and are ready for display. Every step is taken to protect the evidence of years of use and aging. Some items we leave in as-found, rustic condition with rust, dust and dirt to be restored to your read more
