This auction is for a vintage ironstone china bowl and pitcher set that was made by James Edwards and Son circa late 1800's. The pitcher stands 12 1/2 inches high at the side of the spout and is about 8 inches in diameter at its widest. It is in very good condition, with only fine crazing and a couple of small very faint pinpoint 'stains'. It has a black stamp on the bottom that says 'Stone china James Edwards & Son Dalehall' (see photo). The matching bowl is 4 3/4 inches high and is 14 3/4 inches across the top. It is in very good condition also, with only a small glaze bubble in the bottom of the bowl that is not popped; and there is a short line on the rim that is from the manufacturing, a shallow 'heat crack', not a true crack (damage).(see photo). The heat line is the small gray line. There are a few pinpoint spots of wear to the purple or maroon band that is on the inside of the bowl, and there is a very small light, barely visible stain on the outside of the bowl, It is so light I could not get it to show in a photo. The bowl has an impressed stamp on the bottom outside that is hard to read because of the glaze. If you have any questions, e-mail me, and thanks for looking!
