Offered for sale is a beautiful maiolica gravy boat with a grotesque figure as handle. It is completed by an under plate of similar, but probably later manufacture. The piece dates to 1880/1890 and was created by the Cantagalli Manufactory in Florence, Italy. A similar piece is pictured in the book Gotter, Helden und Grotesken on page 300, Fig. 262 as a "Kleine Zierschale kit Meerwesen". This top piece measures 7 inches by 5-1/2 inches and stands 4 inches tall. The under plate measures 8-1/2 inches in diameter. Please study the photographs before bidding. Together, both pieces weigh 1 pound, 12 ounces hence the shipping costs. All reasonable offers will be considered. Buyer to pay all costs associated with shipping and insurance.
