Offered for sale is a beautiful maiolica gravy boat with a grotesque figure as handle. It is completed by an under plate of similar, but probably later manufacture. The piece dates to 1880/1890 and was created by the Cantagalli Manufactory in Florence, Italy. A similar piece is pictured in the book Gotter, Helden und Grotesken on page 300, Fig. 262 as a "Kleine Zierschale kit Meerwesen". This top piece measures 7 inches by 5-1/2 inches and stands 4 inches tall. The under plate measures 8-1/2 inches in diameter. Please study the photographs before bidding. Together, both pieces weigh 1 pound, 12 ounces hence the shipping costs. All reasonable offers will be considered. Buyer to pay all costs associated with shipping and insurance. All items shipped ordelivered within California will include California sales tax unless a validresale number and resale declaration are provided.
