Very early & rare, antique, inlaid walnut Italian Renaissance chest, cabinet, circa 1570 . The top is inlaid with a band of darker walnut, inset with marquetry lozenges that are cruciform in shape, the top has dentil molding around the outside, below is a single drawer that is also inlaid with a chevron design in dark and light woods, at each side of the drawer is similar marquetry. To the center is a single door that is inlaid with the same cruciform lozenges as the top, to each side is a frieze of chevron inlay, the cabinet stands on claw feet. Condition is really very good and original, t is some minimal inlay loss to the center of the door but insignificant for a cabinet about 450 years old!
