Superior 19th c Italian Renaissance Carved Walnut Folding Savonarola Chair Lions Cherubs Beasts Being offered for sale is this Superior 19th century highly carved Italian Renaissance Carved Walnut folding Savonarola chair with its rich original finish and deep aged patina and elaborate carvings of Cherub heads, Paw Feet, Lion Heads, Carved shells, plumage, Lionesses, Beasts and fish scale carvings...even the back of the chair is highly carved! This chair is the finest carved 19th century Savonarola chair I have ever had the pleasure of obtaining...it is positively stunning...such craftsmanship is amazing! This chair measures 42 3/4 inches in total height, a total width of 35 inches, seat width of 13 inches, seat depth of 15 inches and seat height to the floor is 19 inches and this fabulous folding chair weighs approximately 40 lbs. This chair folds up with the ornately carved back lifting out for two pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. The chair is solid and tight and quality made. This chair is in excellent antique condition and has been well preserved and cared for. The only apology I can see the carvings on the right side of the arm is missing and appears to have been that way for some time now. But honestly the chair has so much carving you really do not notice it. It is impossible to show the tremendous amount of carvings this chair features in just 12 pictures...even the inside of the stretchers at the feet are carved!
