Antique Italian Wooden Rosary with 4 Medals + Original Tag, Early 1900s
This excellent old rosary was made in Italy in the early 1900s. It is complete, very sturdily made, and extra long, measuring 26.75"/68 cm hanging length. It has 4 medals attached, as well as a tin tag from the factory that proudly reads: "Made in Italy"! The INRI crucifix and central medal are Art Deco, dating this rosary to the early 1900s.
The 5/8" (40 mm) crucifix consists of a silver-colored metal holder encasing a celluloid or bakelite cross with brass scroll and corpus; it is marked "Italy" on the back. The central medal is solid brass or copper. The 8 mm beads are likely ebony, each encased within cap rings for extra security. (One bead is a replacement, the rest are original.)
T are four really nice old medals attached. They are: Miraculous Mary with Greek key border; Mary Lourdes with blue enamel; Queen of Mt. Carmel with Simon Stock and Sacred Heart; and St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows, patron of students and children. Beautiful original patina on all.
