This is a Very Old "RARE FIND" Solid IVORY 24" Tape Measure: I Believe this to be: A high quality 24 inch, 4 fold large Architect Ivory Ruler made by J. Rabone & Sons, Birmingham England. C.1880. The hinges are artistically made from German Silver and steel bearing. This rule has 18 sub scales with different divisions and a protractor. Michael Rabone founded his Birmingham firm in 1784. In 1877 John Rabone (grandson of Michael) changed the name to 'John Rabone & Sons'. James Chesterman founded his Sheffield Company in 1820 and in 1963 both firms combined to become Rabone Chesterman with the three triangles trademark of J. Rabone.This Item was in my Fathers Collection. I DO NOT GUARANTEE that I am Correct but you may request any additional information you may require from me before bidding!Measure is in relatively good Shape with NO CHIPS or CRACKS Very Readable / "Original Condition" I have not cleaned or Tampered with it. Does have some very minor Paint Spatter on on edge.Works Well! Reads Well!
