LOVELY, WIDE ANTIQUE BRACELET WORN BY THE TRIBES WOMEN DURING CEREMONIES. THE WOMEN DYED THEIR SKIN WITH HENNA WHICH, IN TURN, RUBBED OFF ONTO THE IVORY BRACELETS AND STAINED THEM A REDDISH COLOR DEPENDING ON HOW LONG OR HOW MANY TIMES THE BRACELETS WERE WORN.

THIS IVORY BRACELET IS 9/10 THS OF AN INCH WIDE. THE BRACELET MEASURES 10 INCHES AROUND THE OUTSIDE AND IT IS 8 1/2 INCHES ALONG THE INSIDE. IT HAS TRHEE DISTINCT BANDS IN THE DESIGN. THE BRACELET IS JOINED BY A SILVER COLORED HINGE AND CLASP. T IS A PUSH-PIN MECHANISM TO DO UP THE BRACELET WHICH WORKS WELL, HOWEVER, THE PIN IS HARD TO PULL OUT AND PUSH IN BUT IT DOES WORK. THE BRACELET IS ACTUALLY BIG ENOUGH TO PUSH ON AND TAKE OFF WITHOUT UNDOING THE PUSH-PIN MECHANISM. ALL THE HARDWARE IS ORIGINAL TO THE BRACELET. IN ONE OF THE PHOTOS IT APPEARS THAT T IS A DENT IN THE SILVER COLORED CLASP BUT THIS IS JUST CAMERA FLASH MAKING THE EMBOSSED DESIGN OF THE CLASP APPEAR TO HAVE A DENT. IT DOESN'T... IT IS ONLY CAMERA ANGLE AND FLASH. ALL THE SILVER COLORED CLASPS ARE EMBOSSED WITH A HAND CHASED DESIGN. I THINK THE CLASPS ARE A LOW GRADE SILVER OR A SILVER COLORED SOFT METAL.

THE IVORY HAS A VERY NICE PATINA, AND YOU CAN SEE MANY IVORY GROWTH LINES THROUGHOUT THE CURVES OF THE BRACELET. T IS NO DAMAGE TO REPORT. T ARE NO CHIPS, NICKS, CRACKS OR GAUGES IN THE IVORY. THIS IS A VERY NICE PIECE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

I HAVE ANOTHER IVORY BRACELET IN ANOTHER AUCTION WHICH IS FROM THE 40S OR 50S. IT IS PICTURED IN A COUPLE OF MY PHOTOS IN THIS LISING.
