Welcome to Honoring Steve Irwin Animal and Mythical Creatures Week! We really appreciated Steve for his enthusiasm, obvious love of all animals, and his ability to inspire others to care for the wild things of this world. You are bidding on an old, old Japanese Ivory carving (or possibly netsuke) of a Kirin. The design on all parts of this Kirin are very intricate and lovely ... the expression of the Kirin is rather humorous ... he sure looks happy to see you! ;0) T is an obvious crack on the mouth of this Kirin and 2 small cracks on the thigh on one side, as is easily seen in our photographs. T doesn't seem to be any danger of these cracks evolving into breaks, but it's clear that this piece will require gentle handling and good care. T is also some accumulation of dirt around the Kirin's teeth, but we don't know how it should be cleaned and won't cause harm to the piece by experimenting on it. These defects notwithstanding, for its age, this Kirin sculpture is in good condition. The Kirin measures 3 1/4" in height, 1 1/2" at his widest point, 1 3/16" at the base and weighs 35 grams or 1.2 ounces. California residents add 8.25% sales tax to the cost of the item. We guarantee all items to be as described and pictured or your money back (less shipping and any handling charges). Once you have received the item, you have 7 days read more
