This curious item is an antique tack rack made of wood and cast iron by the J L Mott Iron Works in NY many many decades ago. It, and other similar racks, were hammered into a long long substantial board above head level in my Mom's back entry for decades. My Father had a passion for horses years and years before my brother and I were ever born.Dad had a black and white Shetland stallion named, what else, Spotty, who was Dad's pet. Spot lived to be over 30 years old.We grew up with Spot. Dad trained him for a saddle, pulling a sleigh and basket cart and doing tricks. He would extend one of his front legs to you on command from my father and he was also used for stud service. Getting back to the rack....... it was one of Dad's hobbies to collect these horse-related items. :Leather straps and halters used to hang from them years ago. Dad died almost 46 years ago but Mom left the racks on the board in the back entry. It was only after my Mom and my brother died that I got out a hammer and removed the racks from that board. The metal is rusty on this w the paint has worn off and the paint that is on it has an orange peel texture,. I would guess someone repainted this a long time ago.T are 3 holes in the cast iron back plate that rests against the wall. Screws not included. The back plate width is 6-1/2 inches long. The depth of this rack from the wall is about 3-1/4 inches and the height is a little over 3-1/2 inches. Terms: I accept PayPal, money order, or personal check. This rack will be shipped within the US 2 business days after cleared payment through PayPal, money order receipt or check clearance.
