We are offering a late 19th century hand painted Satsuma pottery vase. This old Japanese vase was made in the “Nippon” export era but is unmarked for export (maker mark on bottom). The floral decoration & raised tassel handles were made for export to satisfy the late Victorian taste for such pieces. The Blue enamel glaze & attention to detail in the hand painting is outstanding! This Satsuma piece was hand potted on a wheel, not molded. It measure 10” tall. The condition is great (no chips, cracks, or restoration)-slight loss to the gilding on the tassel handles. An old oriental Nippon style vase of this type & age would have $150/$300 price tag in a good antique shop. We have not placed a reserve on this old oriental treasure, so bid away!
