Antique Japanese Black Lacquer Writing Box, Suzuribako, with an exquisite design of inlaid mother of pearl birds sitting on cherry blossom branches. The box is a rectangle with rounded corners in the traditional shape for a Japanese Suzuribako. Box measures 9" X 12" X 2.5" and is in fair condition. T is a chip on the bottom, one on the top with scratches on both. Some areas of the lacquer have been scuffed with other areas faded due to age. I do not know how old this box is.
