ITEM: This is the best antique Japanese chochin lantern I have ever owned. This dates from Edo and the condition is still excellent. A couple tiny wear spots on paper only, nothing big at all. All the metalwork is complete and in excellent condition. It measures 10.5 inches tall. The handle and chain add another 12 inches. The diameter is 3.75 inches. Using is easy, copact it, open top, put candle on spike, light candle and extend lantern and close top. Hang from chain that is attached to candle. This is a real antique, please use indoors only. This chochin has been in my home for years, I know how nice it is. You'll love it too. I am now selling my personal collection of Japanese militaria and related antiques.
