Antique Japanese Meiji Sumida Gawa Vase Unusual Tri Point Top c.1890 - 8 1/4" Description MORE PHOTOS BELOW - OO One of two pieces of Sumida Gawa listed. A Japanese Meiji period Sumida Gawa vase, with an unusual tri-point top, and dating to around c.1890 - 1900. A Japanese The vase, of waisted form, has a wave like relief to the red painted body whilst the rim has a 'cloaked' detail gathered up into 3 loop finials, and covered in a flowing glaze of various shades of brown, blue, and cream which drips down the sides of the vase. The vase has an applied three dimensional glazed figure of a male standing on a rocky precipice, with an outstretched arm holding a pearl, looking down upon a shell sitting on another rocky precipice. The base is unsigned. Condition is good, with no damage and only the very light rubbing of the red paintwork, commensurate with age - please see photos and . The vase stands approx 8 1/4" / 21cm tall maximum.
