A Rare & Important Antique Heian Period Japanese Samurai Tanto , signed by the maker ``SADAHIDE `` , of Bungo Province . Tanto dates to around 1160 . I strongly suspect that this Rare Treasure was kept in a family of sushi shop owners & only recently discovered after a handle was removed for repair probably . Would have been somebodies Grandfather probably did not realise due to the Nakago having a built up lot of Sabi that the name was SADAHIDE & took to the blade with a Stone gave it a good cleaning & thought ouch thats sharp ! , I will use it in the kitchen . One the Mune side of the Nakago we can still see this is a very old Blade despite the Nakago having been cleaned off and almost all the signature . Unusual Bobi on both sides of the blade, rare to find this on Tanto & very trademark to Sadahide . Mekugi anna x two . Nakago is almost Funagata shape . This maker score a massive 205 in value & that brings him into the Top 1/2 dozen of the most famous makers . Blade Lenght 38 cm : Cutting Edge 265mm : Blade Width 24mm : Thickness 5mm :******* NO RESERVE AUCTION ******
