A Spectacular very High Quality Antique Muromachi Period , 1392 - 1573 , Japanese Samurai, `` OMI -YARI ``. Lenght 84 cm . Omi-Yari is the Longest of the Yari produced by Samurai Sword Makers or Katana -Kaji & these were used as the Front Line of Defense and offense in Samurai Battles . The Poles for these Omi-Yari sometimes reached Gigantic Lenght 4-5 Meters , the lenght of the Pole for this Omi-Yari is about 3 meters . The Magnificent Blade has a Hamon on the cutting Edge of Both Sides of the Blade , that is spectacular & of the very Highest Quality you are likely to see on any High Quality Samurai Sword . The Yari is A Work Of Art & reflects the Hand of a Master craftsman upon Inspection of all of the faultless angles shapes & form, Perfection is found along the Entire lenght of this Blade, that is Laminated Iron produced by Hand Forging in the same manner as a Samurai Sword . Cutting Edge of the Blade Lenght 365 mm : Blade Width 26.5 mm : Blade thickness 17 mm : Nakago is UBU & Mumei : Ishizuki or Butt cap is Russet Iron : Groove or fuller on the face is B0-Bi & in polish , usually seen in Red or Black Lacquer : Full Costly & Spectacular recent Japanese Polish : .* Original Ornate Lacquered Saya , has light wormage in a few places that is minor, that could be restored by furniture maker who specilizes in Lacquer work . ( The French are Excellent ) . Pole is of Rare style with Wide angled bars just aft of the ornate bindings and shell inlay , russet iron bands & red Lacquered Hemp bindings , these bars are designed to stop Sword Blades cutting the Pole & deflect Jumonji Yari Blades attacking also . Polished Japanese Oak Hard wood that is Aged & has very Beautiful Deep Gloss to it. Sold with copy of official Japanese Government Document of Authenticity . Would suit the most discerning antique collector ,Museum or Wepons collection & would also make very spectacular interior decore with Yari Mounted and the Lacquered Saya in place .
