I have never seen a piece like this believe it to be Satsuma or Kutani pottery it is definitely an exceptional piece with applied dragons and looks like foo dog heads for legs the piece protrudes out from the round pottery cylinder in the middle looking through the holes on the sides can see a round cylinder type of pottery in the inside with a few dark blue symbols on it, you can see all the way in the inside when you look through the holes on either side this is like one piece of pottery inside another, a real beautiful piece. As for the damage, on the cover I counted 6 of the tips on the second set of ends were chipped see picture #11 and the other thing I found was the first smaller set of horns on the one dragons head they were chipped see pictures #6 &7, this piece measure 5 1/4 Inches tall and 5 1/4 Inches wide, I have described this to the best of my knowledge have had for many years always was one of my favorite pieces.
