THIS IS AN OLD, WELL USED TEA CUP WITH A DESIGN OF CHERRY BLOSSOMS IN SHINOYAKI GLAZE. HAND SIGNED BY THE ARTIST 'KIZAN'. IT HAS DEVELOPED VERY NICE HIBIYAKI (CRACKLY GLAZE) OVER MANY DECADES AND THE BOTTOM OR FOOT HAS BEEN WORN SMOOTH SLIDING ACROSS TABLE TOPS DURING THE SAME YEARS OF USE. THE OLD WOODEN BOX IT CAME HAS VERY UNUSUAL AND BEAUTIFUL CALLIGRAPHY THAT WE ARE HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING ANYBODY THAT CAN READ. (I WILL KEEP TRYING AND ADD WHAT I CAN FIND OUT). The photos attempt to show this and I hope they do, but it is best to actually hold it and feel it. The very unusual thing about this cup to me and to everybody I have asked about it is the way cherry blossoms and branches were formed in the glaze and the delicate pink color. They never saw this colored depicting cherry blossoms. Neither have I. They read more
