ANTIQUE JAPANESE ARMY SOLDIER'S SENNINBARI BELT ITEM: This is a is a very rare, and very nice 1000 stitch belt that was owned by sergeant Yamamoto of the Imperial Japanese Army. Last week we auctioned his cap, now is his belt. The condition is extremely nice, small tear at the omamori (talisman) pocket only. In the bocket is a 5 sen, 10 sen, a Buddhist talisman and a Shinto talisman (might as well cover all the bases, right?). The oval talisman reads FUSHIGI YONMOJI MI WO MAMORU (4 kanji of protection), then in the center written in a bonji style reads SA-MU-HA-RA (Saying "Samuhara" while having this charm was supposed to make the bullets miss you). On the bottom par it reads SHINKOUKAI KINSEI (Made by Shinkoukai, which was a type of Shinto). Do a search on the net for "SAMUHARA Jinja" to learn the history of this talisman. The round talisman is the famous Buddhist money Kukai, and under him reads OKUNOIN, which is the Buddhist temple area name at Koyasan. It's got a little wear, but the other are perfect. It measures 47-3/4 inches in length, plus another 46 inches in straps, for a grand total of 93-3/4 inches in total length. The width is 3.5 inches.
