Up for auction we have a very old Japanese O-tanto. This along with a few others I bought many years ago came from a closed museum and these had sat in the basement for years. Untouched to the market just as I had found them and with very old asset stickers still on them. I would say this dates from the Muromachi period from the tang. This does have a hamon in the light and would need to be cleaned up. This has a shobu-zukuri kissaki and has a blade that is straight and some dings that are non fatal. I wanted to have this restored, but to many to do. It does look as if there might be marks, but tang is so rusted I am selling it as unmarked. The blade measures about 13 3/4 inches and has a very old copper two piece habaki and very old iron tsuba. Tsuka ito is also still very tight to handle. If you need more information just ask. !!!!
