Kestner Bisque Head Doll Description: Here's a beautiful Kestner bisque shoulder head doll from the late 1800s! She's unmarked as far I can see (but may be marked at the base of the shoulderplate which is hidden under the body line). But I have no doubt she's a Kestner -- her head is identical to a marked Kestner "C" letter doll I sold a couple weeks ago, she has a Kestner body with full leather feet, and has some plaster around her crown from a plaster pate (the pate itself is now missing, and she has a modern pate). Most telling are her unusual teeth -- they're square-cut like in most early open mouth Kestners, but they're not separately molded, they're actually molded as part of her upper lip! (And the teeth separations are not painted, but incised i.e. the bisque was cut to form the individual teeth). She also features blue glass sleep eyes and multi-stroke painted eyebrows in dark paint, not the typical lighter-brown paint. Beautiful facial painting and a smooth, pale complexion. White kid leather body with composition lower arms rivet-jointed at the elbows; legs are rivet-jointed at the thighs and knees. Newer pate, 2-piece outfit, and wig. She displays beautifully but has some hidden damage under the clothes and wig, so please read the "condition" paragraph carefully before bidding! Dimensions: Measures 18 1/4" tall .
